Conditions & Areas of Focus

People seek psychiatric care for many reasons, not all of which fit neatly within a diagnosis. Manifold Psychiatry works with a broad range of psychiatric conditions as well as emotional, relational, and life concerns that may benefit from psychiatric care or psychotherapy.

Diagnostic Complexity & Second Opinions

Some concerns do not fit neatly within a single diagnosis, and symptoms may overlap across multiple conditions. We welcome individuals seeking a second opinion, clarification of previous or conflicting diagnoses, or a more comprehensive assessment when prior treatment has not worked as expected. At times, reaching a clearer understanding may require more than one appointment, review of prior records, collateral information, or additional testing.

Trauma & Dissociation

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex post-traumatic stress disorder (cPTSD), developmental and complex trauma, military-related trauma and challenges associated with the transition to civilian life among veterans, dissociative symptoms and disorders, and difficulties related to past or ongoing traumatic experiences.

Mood

Depression, bipolar disorder, bipolar spectrum, persistent mood changes, irritability, and difficulties with mood regulation.

Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, & Related Concerns

Generalized anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), intrusive thoughts, and compulsive behaviors.

Attention & Executive Function

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and difficulties with attention, organization, planning, impulsivity, and executive functioning. Difficulties in these areas can also occur in many other psychiatric conditions, and evaluation includes consideration of other potential contributors. In some cases, treatment of another condition may be recommended before determining whether additional ADHD-specific treatment is needed. When a more comprehensive assessment is needed, referral for formal neuropsychological testing may also be recommended. New patients seeking evaluation or treatment for ADHD may be asked to attend an in-person appointment as part of the assessment process.

Psychosis & Thought Disorders

Schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, other psychotic disorders, and experiences involving changes in perception, thought, or reality testing.

Relationships & Interpersonal Dynamics

Relationship conflict, recurring interpersonal patterns, family difficulties, communication problems, attachment concerns, and difficulties navigating closeness, boundaries, or connection. Therapy may also be helpful for those who simply want to better understand how they relate to others or develop stronger communication and interpersonal skills, even in the absence of a specific relationship problem.

Life Transitions & Personal Exploration

Grief and loss, major life changes, identity and self-understanding, questions of meaning or direction, and periods of uncertainty or dissatisfaction that may not correspond to a psychiatric diagnosis.
